The available LEGO pieces are neatly categorized, on the left side of the interface. You can zoom and rotate the camera in the building environment with the right mouse button and the scroll wheel. Unlike other 3D modelling software, LEGO Digital Designer was created with ease of use in mind. You don't have to install any prerequisite tools or services and the hardware requirements should not be a challenge for any modern day computer. The setup file is 185 MB, so it may take some time to download it from the Internet, but the good news is that the installation process will go fast and smoothly. LEGO Digital Designer is available for Windows and Mac OS X and it is absolutely free. When you complete your model, you can save it, share it with your friends or publish instructions on how to build it and the best part is that no one will be in danger of stepping on one of the pieces. The software places a vast collection of bricks, wheels, gears and other pieces at your disposal and it allows you to assemble them in a 3D environment. If you wish to build something with real-life LEGO bricks, you may not have all the pieces you need, but you can build it on your computer, with LEGO Digital Designer. The LEGO Group proved this fact more than once, by releasing various video games, in which movies are recreated with animated LEGO pieces. You don't have to be a child to enjoy building something with LEGO bricks.
